Legal strategies can win Maryland hospital negligence cases

Maryland residents are often admitted to the hospital for diagnosis and medical treatment of various ailments and diseases. The level and accuracy of the care provided by the hospital staff is often the cog in the wheel of a successful medical diagnosis and treatment. Patients have an innate trust that hospital management will identify their medical problems and treat them.

Unfortunately, sometimes, that trust is abused and hospital staff is negligent in their duty to provide patients with the best possible care for a successful outcome that patients end up worse, not better, for the care provided. In fact, some patients suffer from injuries due to the reckless and willful negligence of hospital staff and management.

There are various agencies and state authorities that oversee hospital management and treatment protocols to reduce the number of hospital negligence cases. The state Healthcare Commission is responsible for supervising how Maryland hospitals treat patients, and hospitals must answer to these authorities in case any act of negligence is found. Maryland authorities also regulate the maximum amount of medical fees that hospitals can charge their patients.

Proving that a hospital has provided negligent care can often be very difficult for patients because it requires copious documentation and evidence. This documentation and evidence prove that the injury was caused to the patient because of the hospital's negligence and not by a pre-existing medical condition of the patient.

Attorney W. Scott Sonntag, P.A., approaches each hospital negligence case by providing various medical records. These medical records are in addition to expert testimony of other doctors, hospital management and precedents set by similar court cases. This evidence proves that the hospital was, in fact, negligent and responsible for the patient's injury.
